FAQs

What is the volunteer compensation?

This is a paid opportunity as well as receiving published recognition. Volunteers have fun with youth while creating priceless community connections for future endeavors.

Where do volunteers provide services?

Schools provide space for haircutting in classrooms and gyms. Tables and chairs are set up near outlet accessibility.

Are volunteers required to provide services outside of their specialty?

No! Volunteers are highly encouraged to stay within their usual skillset for efficiency and high-quality results. Event coordinators will inquire about volunteer skillsets and pair them with students who fit best.

Why is this opportunity only for 5th graders?

Building a strong foundation with our youngest graduates allows for traditions to be built while positively impacting students’ lives throughout their childhood and adolescent academic journey. As the program expands, high school students will have opportunities for career exposure and hands on experiences that lead to servicing peers as well as younger students. The pairing of elementary and high school students socially and emotionally benefits the development of all ages involved.

How do schools partner with COMO FLAIR?

COMO FLAIR extends partnership to all title-1 elementary schools. With assistance of the Home School Communicator on staff, we offer services to the entire 5th grade class while providing particular care for students in need of resource assistance.
